Have you ever seen What About Bob? You know that scene where he’s tied to the front mast yelling ‘I sail! I’m a sailor, I saillll!!!!’

Well that’s how I felt when Hillary invited Jess and I to go sailing on her dad’s boat, the Meridian. It was a beautifully sunny fall afternoon and we had an amazing time.

Ryan and I made our first trip to Zimmans this weekend. It’s an amazing fabrid store in Lynn, MA. We were looking for some fabric to make cushions for a new chair we got. Needless to say, I got a little overwhelmed and distracted. It reminded me so much of the fabric stores I use to go to with my Mom when were were looking for fabric to make my horse show outfits. In the end we left with 4 yards of a textured grey for the cushions and 2 yards of a bright floral pattern that I plan to make pillows with.

My obsession with cupcakes has by no means faded, but it seems as though I’d been lacking the occasion to make them lately. I hate to make an entire batch just to have them sitting around the house for me to eat but I recently realized that if I make them and bring them to work, they disappear in about 20 minutes. Hillary helped me with these ones. They are chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow frosting and a graham cracker crumb topping.

Apples

Today was the perfect fall day. Rachael wanted to go apple picking so we headed to Boyer’s Orchard in Vermont. The weather and scenery were absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect way to spend a fall weekend.

The kitchen has finally come together! Getting a working sink was a huge day but being able to cover the plywood floor with tile totally changed my opinion of the room. I helped a little with the backsplash tiling but Ryan and his Dad did all of the flooring. I had seen the herringbone pattern in a magazine and fell in love

Until this weekend, I refused to drink pumpkin spice lattes and I would not wear a jacket. And then I realized that there is just no use fighting it. Fall has finally hit Boston leaving me with no choice but to embrace the season. This weekend we headed to the apple orchard to get some fresh apples, hot cider and delicious donuts. It was the perfect sunny fall day that ALMOST made it ok that summer has finally faded away.

I had never been candlepin bowling. In fact, I’d really never heard of it until I moved to Cambridge and a friend wanted to get dinner at Flatbreads which just happens to be a pizza place attached to Saccos Bowl Haven. Several of us decided to go here to celebrate Todd’s birthday this year and we had a great time. I enjoyed candlepin bowling but I’m definitely going to need some practice!

I absolutely love Boston. I love living here and I really love all of the great thing the city has to offer. I’m not a huge history buff but it’s fascinating when you start to hear all of the details of this great city. I always want to share this knowledge but I hate to admit, I’m just not a very good tour guide.

I’ve driven over this bridge more times that I can count but it’s not until you’re underneath it on the Charles that you realize how beautiful it really is.
