I had family in town this weekend and while we were waiting for our duck tour to begin we took a brief walk through the Boston Public Library. I use to walk right by the library everyday on my way to work but never actually went in. I knew there was a garden and a fountein

Packed

Packed
The move has been a pretty slow and long process. After purchasing the house at the end of June we renovated just about everything. There really is no surface inside the house that we didn’t refinish, repaint or tear down. We started packing about a week ago and then had movers come and take our larger items that Ryan didn’t trust me with. We are now just waiting on the kitchen to be finished up and then the real hard part of unpacking and finding new places for all of our stuff begins!

The pen this pony lives in is right next to Yoshi’s gate. I had to walk by him a few times and couldn’t resist giving him a bit of a rocker hair style. My mom quickly reminded me that this little guy has a bit of a biting problem so I had to be pretty careful of my fingers!

I could hardly wait to make it out to the barn during my latest trip to Michigan. Seeing Yoshi is something I look forward to weeks in advance. As I was walking down the barn isle with my arm over his neck and my head resting on him the owner of the barn told me it was obvious who his owner was and how happy Yoshi looked to have me back. I glowed with pride, almost shed a tear and gave Yoshi about 3 handfuls of treats. After all, I have to make up for all of the time I’m not home to spoil him.

Summer just isn’t complete without some good old backyard fireworks. Lucky for me, my Dad doesn’t really do things the ‘good old’ way, he likes to go above and beyond. When he found out we’d be spending the weekend in Michigan he promptly made the trip to Indiana and filled his trunk with fireworks. Filled his trunk is not an exaggeration, it took us 2 trips to get them all into the house. We set off 72 mortars before the neighbor finally came over and said his kid was sleeping and maybe it was time to keep it down. We then turned to the sparklers and other little toys to keep ourselves entertained for the evening. If you’re ever in the mood for a great firework show, call my Dad. He never dissapoin

As soon as I saw the sand at my parents new house I made a joke about not having any toys to make a sand castle. Needless to say, my Dad showed up with a huge bag of proper sand castle items the next time he came home from the grocery store. I wouldn’t say I’m spoiled or anything…well, maybe a little.

This is Kenzie, my Mom’s dog. She rescued her from a shelter long after I’d moved to Boston but whenever I go home I always try and keep her all to myself. She is such a sweet dog and absolutely loves to be around the family. This weekend we swam, chased ducks and built a sandcastle together. Being around her makes me wish I had the time to have my own pup here in Boston.

We finally had our first cookout at the new house. We had very limited supplies and I even had to run back to the old apartment at one point to get some silverware but we had a great time. Chicken cabobs an

I wanted to hit the hearth with a sledge hammer SO badly and Ryan kept telling me no. So when it finally came time to demolish it I was right there ready to go. Turns out, demo is dusty, dirty and really hard work. I also wasn’t strong enough to even make a dent so it turned out to be somewhat disappointing. At least it’s gone now and the new hardwood floors are in place. We’re clearing everything out of the house this weekend and the refinishing process begins on Monday!

As we’ve been going through the process of updating the new house, I’ve been a little disappointed about the lack of things we’ve found. I’m not sure what I expected, the house certainly isn’t old but I wanted to find something amazing beneath the floorboards. When the stairs were ripped up we found this old Pepsi can and I was beyond excited. I’ve made sure to leave a few treasures behind so that if anyone else ever gets below the floor boards, they’ll get to know the previous owners a little better.
