Painted Pallet

After living in my apartment for nearly a year, it became obvious that I needed to put something on my walls. I considered buying art for the sake of having art but decided to wait until I found something I really loved. So this is what I came up with in the meantime — a collection of very different picture frames painted black and hung together on one wall. I searched high and low at the Brimfield Antique Show and found a pretty good variety of shapes and sizes.

Charles River Kayaking

Group Shot

Kayaking is hard work but oh so fun. We got a group of friends together one night after work and went to the Charles for some kayaking and a BBQ. I was lucky enough to be in a double kayak so you’ll see me taking a little rest in the first picture. The second is what we all looked like taking over almost the entire width of the river.

Before

Anyone who lives in Boston knows how annoying the T can be. It’s bad pretty much all the time but it seems to be at it’s worst when the Red Sox are in town. After one too many crowded rides home I decided it was probably time to get a bike. I’d had one in college and figured I could get use to it again. The black frame is a loaner but it was a great blank canvas to start with. I spent an entire day in various Boston bike shops trying to pick a color scheme. Purple was the clear choice. It now has purple handlebars, chain, crank arms, front tire and a purple sparkly seat. The latest addition came all the way from Paris in the form of a bright polka dot bell. As it gets a little warmer I’m already thinking about what I can add for 2010.

Fishin Trip

I don’t like fish. I don’t like to touch them and I definitely don’t like to eat them. But for some reason I do like fishing. I think it’s the sun and water combination. Sitting there is so relaxing. I didn’t catch anything (which really is best for me) but I enjoyed the scenery and the weather.

Bristol Outhouse Races

Yes, this is a strange tradition–I’m well aware of that by now. That being said, you would not believe how much fun the Bristol Outhouse Races are. Starting at 8am on the 4th of July, local companies show up with their custom made outhouse and race down Main Street. My Grandfather was even in the very first race over 30 years ago. He was the rider for the Fire Department! So maybe it’s not the most normal 4th of July activity. But I grew up watching them and hey, it gets me up at 8am to beat the line at the snow cone tent!

3D Movies

Ryan and I saw UP! this weekend in 3D. I admit, it was my first 3D feature film and it was such a good one. I’m a sucker for kids movies, obviously! We may have taken the glasses, but now I have my own and I’m fully prepared to bring them to the theatre next time I see a 3D flick.

PHOENIX

Arguably one of my favorite bands, I got tickets to see them for my birthday at the Paradise. The show was absolutely amazing, if you have the chance to see them live I definitely recommend it!

Today I turned 23

My ‘Golden Birthday’ was possibly the best so far. I spent several days celebrating with my best friends. We spend one afternoon laying in the grass, one evening sitting on the Charles and the next night at a rooftop party. I was so happy that everyone was in town and we got to celebrate together. Ryan was the photographer for the weekend and took these pictures.

World’s Largest Beach Ball

The Carnival World Record projects were the first major events I worked on after coming to Arnold. I saw the World’s Largest Pinata and Beach Ball come to life in Philadelphia and Dallas and was on set for the corresponding commercial shoots. The following spring we got the beach ball out again and brought it to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for the day. I forgot to have a real picture taken in front of the ball, the one above is a test shot for camera placement.
