Candle Crafting

First crafting project completely by the brunch clubbers. Making candles turned into staining glass jars. I think it may take a few tries to perfect the glass process but the candles came out great.

Growing up in Vermont and then having to move away has given me tremendous appreciation for the wonderful state. It was a lot of fun for me to have so many of my friends in my favorite place. We made a night trip to Burlington and headed straight to Church Street. It was a bitter cold night so there was nobody else out on the street.

I had such a good time skiing with so many of my good friends in Vermont this weekend. Some people are amazing skiers, some people were skiing for the second time ever but we all stuck together and had so much fun.

We stayed at this awesome house that I found on AirBnB. My favorite part was that there were ponies at the farm. I made sure to bring apples to share with them and made a few trips down to say hello to them.

There were plenty of other ways to heat the house we stayed at in Stowe but we decided the wood stove was the most authentic way. We spent two days trying to get the thing to burn using huge logs but then we discovered the ax and things got much easier. Ryan and David were a good team, they kept us warm the rest of the weekend.

Can’t think of a better way to start my day than with personalized chocolate chip pancakes and coffee in a pony mug.

I’m well aware and extremely disappointed that these photos are blurry. I’d been messing with some of my camera settings while I was in Detroit and was taking quick photos not noticing they weren’t coming out crystal clear. Sorry for the annoying-ness but I thought I’d share them anyways. Ryan and his team went to Detroit for work and I tagged along for the weekend. My brother was nice enough to come hang out with me one of the days they were all working and he took me to see the Heidelberg Project. It was neat to see – a little sad, a little happy – but overall an worthwhile experience.

Chris made an appearance while I was in Detroit! It was so nice to have someone to explore the city with. We made a loop around the auto show before it was open to the public, went to the Ford Museum, roamed around the Heidelberg Project for a while and went to dinner together. It was a quick visit but I was really glad I got to see him.

I took a weekend trip to Detroit recently. You’d think growing up in Michigan I would have spent a little more time there but I really don’t know much about the city. It’s so old and the architecture is really beautiful – but I just couldn’t get over the fact that the city is so empty.
