On our last morning in London we decided to wander over to the Palace to see the changing of the guard I overestimated how long it would take us to get there and after reading online how hard it is to see if we didn’t get there early we arrived about 2 hours early. And it was raining. And cold. We had perfect spots to stand, right up against the gate directly in front of one of the guard posts. There was a lot of walking and marching and yelling and all of that. Then the guards band came out to perform we couldn’t help but laugh when they started to play ‘New York, New York’ by Frank Sinatra.
The whole time we were there people in the crowd kept saying that because the flag was flying it meant the Queen was inside. I’d heard that too but wasn’t sure if it was really to be believed. But after about 2 hours of standing outside in the cold and rain, the queen got in her purple car and drove away right by all of us.
