My bike is jealous

Ryan has a lot of mopeds and lately the collection has definitely grown. I’d been riding the black Suzuki FA50 because the red one and the yellow one were put away on a shelf for the winter. When Ryan decided to sell a few he told me I could pick which one I wanted him to keep for me to ride. I tossed the black one aside because well, it’s not bright red or yellow. The yellow one originally had all of the white accents, seat and fenders and so it made the red one look a little plain. After some serious deliberating we decided to put all of the white gear on the red FA50. The result is absolutely perfect. I like to say that the reason I’ve stopped riding my bike is because it’s 95 degrees in Boston but really, how could you pass this moped up?

Magic Tunnel

We were at a park having a BBQ a few weeks ago just as the sun started to set. The lighting was absolutely amazing. It made this walkway from the park to the playground look like a magical tunnel. The picture was taken with Ryan’s Yashica T4.

Work it, Girl

I have worked events all over the country. I’ve worked events in the rain and snow, events that were shut down by the police, events that broke world records and events that sent teenagers home broken and bleeding from the mosh pit. I’ve worked events with kids, adults, celebrities and now I’ve worked an event with the GLBT community. Never in my career have I experienced an event so full of joy and happiness as the San Francisco Pride event this weekend. People were sweet and friendly and just fun to meet. It was a refreshing change from some of the events I’ve done in the past and made me appreciate the wonderful city of SF even more.

Adding a little Sunshine

There have been multiple additions to my lovely bike this summer but this weekend I added some notable color. I cut my handle bars down a little bit to reduce my risk of knocking off someone’s mirror in the morning on my way in to work and so decided to replace my grips with something a bit more colorful. I also seem to have had a pretty serious curb/pedal run in that left it begging to be replaced. After I saw the yellow grips I knew these sunshiny yellow pedals were destined to be mine.

Carpentry Skills

This post is less about the DIY bike trailer I’m helping to build and more about the fact that I am helping to build it. I’m crafty, but this is far beyond my comfort zone. I helped figure out the math, measure, lay out the frame and even put a few screws in. I think it’s safe to say I’m becoming a pretty trusty assistant!

Purple Summer Day

The weather was beyond perfect this weekend. I took advantage of the sunshine and rode my bike to a park near by and did some serious summer relaxing. About 50 pages into my book I realized I may be starting to resemble a lobster and that it was probably about time to get out of the bright shiny rays.

Nothing But Blue Skies

I’m not really a great flyer. I think it had to do with my internship at an avionics company. Once we get up past the clouds I settle down a little, maybe because looking out at the other side of the clouds is so unbelievably mesmerizing.

Ryan and I went to Vermont this weekend to stay at my family’s cabin on Lake Champlain. We spent one morning walking down by the water and taking pictures. Seemed like every time I found something to take a picture of, Ryan took one of me! The rain boots belong to my cousin, Alex. I found out a little too late that there are holes in both of them!

DIY Bicycle Rack

I love my bike. So much so that I usually bring it inside at the end of the day so that I don’t have to leave it locked up outside. One bike in an apartment is one thing but two starts to get kind of hard. It seems like we were always having to move one out of the way or prop it back up after it fell down. While at Home Depot we saw these really simple wall mounted bike racks that fold up when not in use. They were easy to install (luckily we hit the stud) and seem to be the perfect solution to our problem. Now I’m just going to have to beat Ryan home so I can put mine on the lower rack!
